The Reference Point Is Part of the Prediction

A number rarely carries its meaning alone. A temperature needs a scale; a distance needs an origin; a market forecast needs a series and a time. Parallax treats that missing context as the first design problem. Before asking whether a prediction is impressive, it asks what the prediction is actually about.

The observatory metaphor is deliberate. Instruments do not remove uncertainty, but they can make the conditions of an observation visible. One entry, one comparison and one stated reference are easier to interrogate than a dashboard that supplies twenty unexplained signals. More information is not automatically more understanding.

That restraint has a cost. The current desk cannot compare strategies across markets or establish a track record. Its sample history is only an interface demonstration. We keep that limitation explicit because a polished coordinate grid can make invented precision feel earned. The reader should never have to infer the status of the underlying data from the confidence of the visual design.

A useful next step is therefore intellectual before it is technical: explain which assumption moves your chosen coordinate. If a small change in that assumption moves the answer a long way, the uncertainty belongs in the reasoning.
